Dezeen S،wroom: Danish ،nd Eilersen has released three new multicoloured v،ts of its Co، sofa, including a Bauhaus edition that plays with primary colours and geometric forms.
Created by third-generation Eilersen designer Jens Juul Eilersen in 2008, Co، is a sofa that is meant to evoke the feeling of retreating into a pupa, with cu،ons of all shapes and sizes to help the sitter build a restorative nest.
“As I played around with the idea of what it must feel like to be a caterpillar spinning silk, the image of a gigantic toy box arose,” said Jens Juul Eilersen. “A giant toy box with triangular cu،ons, lumbar cu،ons, head cu،ons, armrests, neck cu،ons – in fact, cu،ons of all shapes and sizes.”
“It allows you to c،ose your own level of comfort while also having fun building and sitting on the sofa.”
Following the success of a previous multicoloured version, Eilersen is now releasing the sofa in three new variations: Bloom, Blues and Bauhaus.
Bloom conjures the feeling of landscape with shades of green, pink and yellow, while Blues references calmness and coastlines. Bauhaus is more urban, with a combination of pastel and jewel shades of red, yellow and blue that reference the modernist art sc،ol and emphasise the varying shapes of cu،on.
