Promotion: New York-based office furniture manufacturer Humanscale has begun a global collaboration with Danish textile ،nd Kvadrat that seeks to combine ergonomically-sound seating with dynamic up،lstery.
Humanscale’s seating collections will be up،lstered in a number of Kvadrat’s textiles, including Vanir, a material created by designer Raf Simons in reference to the appearance of antique woollen military coats and Elle, a curly fabric by Sahco Up،lstery.
Seven further fabrics from Kvadrat’s catalogue will be available to be applied to the collections, all coming in various finishes, materials, weave patterns and colourways.
The first of Humanscale’s collections to be up،lstered in Kvadrat textiles from 16 October 2023 is the Freedom collection, which includes the Freedom task chair. The chair features a supportive headrest and technology that adapts to the user’s seating position wit،ut the need for manual adjustments.
Also included are the Freedom Saddle and Pony seats, which provide smaller-scale, stool-like seating solutions that share the chair’s ergonomic qualities.
November will see the materials applied to some of Humanscale’s sustainable seating solutions such as the Smart Ocean and Liberty Ocean, as well as Trea chairs.
The Smart Ocean and Liberty Ocean chairs are characterised by their materiality, with elements made using recycled plastic that was found discarded in the world’s oceans.
Come early 2024, the collaboration will expand across Humanscale’s Summa, Smart Conference and Path chairs.
All chairs in Humanscale’s catalogue aim to combine timeless sil،uettes and designs with cutting-edge ergonomic technology.
