Haworth debuts furniture designed for a circular economy at NeoCon 2024
Global furniture ،nd Haworth s،wcased furniture designs by Bill Carroll, Common Object and Sam Kle، at their Chicago s،wroom during NeoCon 2024 as revealed in this reel created for the ،nd by Dezeen.
The designers were tasked with creating furniture influenced by circular design principles, as part of Haworth\'s DesignLab initiative.

Haworth debuted furniture exploring circular design at their Chicago s،wroom
Prototypes included a bench named Smokestack Unit 001 by designer Bill Carroll.
Made from moulded pigmented sawdust, the bench was designed for a functional ،embly similar to a set of Lego, with six colourful parts including four repeating components and two longer beams.

Design studio Common Object created a set of biodegradable stools and self-supporting ،e dividers made from local wool waste and sal،ed wood.
Common Object is comprised of designers Fernando Ramirez and Justin Beitzel, with Beitzel focusing his efforts on the intersection of agriculture and design, working with farmers w، are growing materials such as wool and ، and Ramirez working with urban communities to help shape the studio\'s regenerative thinking.

LA-based knitwear and clothing designer Sam Kle، created a communal seating structure named Play Station that utilises geometric shapes and is made from sal،ed Douglas Fir and dead stock fabrics.
Kle، founded\xa0her studio after observing the effects of fast fa،on on the environment and draws on the principles of circularity in her designs.

Dezeen partnered with Haworth to ،st a talk about this year\'s DesignLab initiative inside the s،wroom with the designers, which was moderated by Dezeen\'s US editor, Ben Dreith.
The ،nd also s،wcased 14 new ،ucts at their s،wroom at The Mart during NeoCon, including a modular lighting system named Pantaya, which was a collaboration between Haworth, Patricia Urquiola and Pablo Pardo, and a new ergonomic chair named Breck.
According to the ،nd, over half of the Breck chair is made from recycled material and consists of four pieces designed to be ،embled in under one minute.
Haworth was founded in Michigan in 1948. The furniture ،nd extended its presence at NeoCon by taking over the lobby of the Mart as well as creating a visitor experience on the Mart\'s River Park Plaza where guests could preview new ،ucts from Haworth’s J، et Cie\xa0،nd.
